One Deficiency, Three Pathways Compromised: The ATP Production Crisis

Energy production in human cells depends on three interconnected metabolic pathways: glycolysis, the Krebs cycle, and the electron transport chain. Each pathway requires specific micronutrient cofactors and coenzymes to function. B vitamins catalyze glycolysis and Krebs cycle reactions, while magnesium, iron, zinc, and copper enable ATP synthesis and electron transfer. Critically, a single micronutrient deficiency can cascade across all three pathways, severely compromising cellular ATP generation. This explains why micronutrient-depleted individuals experience widespread fatigue and metabolic dysfunction rather than isolated symptoms. The interdependency of these pathways means that targeted micronutrient repletion can restore energy production system-wide, reversing fatigue and supporting metabolic recovery.
