A striking new finding from Stanford’s analysis of 44,498 individuals quantifies the protective effect of combined youthful brain and immune aging: a 56 percent reduction in 17-year mortality risk. This synergistic benefit is uniquely attributable to the brain-immune pairing and cannot be replicated by optimizing other organ systems.
In comparison, youthful brain aging alone confers approximately 25 percent mortality reduction, while youthful immune aging independently provides roughly 21 percent protection. The combined nine remaining organ systems contribute only 4 percent additional benefit, underscoring the dominance of neural and immunological health in determining longevity outcomes.
These plasma proteomics-derived organ aging clocks represent a paradigm shift in biological age measurement, moving beyond chronological metrics to capture functional organ-system-specific aging rates. The clinical translation of this technology is anticipated within the next three years.
