New research analysing 2.6 million people across four studies shows that exercise diversity—combining different movement types—predicts health benefits independently of total volume. That 150 minutes of varied activity may outperform 180 minutes of a single exercise modality. Current guidelines focus on time. Should they focus on variety too?
