This finding carries significant implications for prevention strategy in at-risk populations, particularly postmenopausal women. A parallel cross-sectional study of 841 European adults revealed that women with Alzheimer’s disease exhibited a marked 38% reduction in protective blood omega-3 lipids, whereas men showed no similar lipid depletion pattern. The research suggests that timing of intervention is paramount: early, preventive supplementation during midlife may prove far more effective than attempting to reverse lipid deficiencies after cognitive decline has begun.
