The World Health Organization (WHO) has commended Uganda’s response to an Ebola outbreak that has crossed borders from the neighbouring Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The WHO leadership highlighted Uganda’s preparedness and rapid containment efforts as the virus continues to pose a regional threat.
The outbreak, originating in the DRC, has spread into Uganda, raising concerns about cross-border transmission. Health authorities are monitoring case numbers and vulnerable populations in affected areas, with particular attention to densely populated regions near international borders where transmission risk is elevated.
Ugandan health officials and international partners are intensifying surveillance, contact tracing, and coordination efforts across borders. The WHO has emphasized that sustained vigilance and enhanced regional cooperation between DRC and Uganda will be essential to interrupt transmission chains and prevent further spread. This is a developing story.
