Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has launched an upgraded Med Safety App designed to combat the persistent threat of counterfeit and substandard medicines across the nation. The digital platform enables both healthcare professionals and the general public to report suspected counterfeit medicines and adverse drug reactions through a streamlined mobile interface.

This initiative represents a significant step forward in pharmaceutical regulation for West Africa’s most populous nation. By leveraging mobile technology, NAFDAC aims to improve detection and response times to substandard and falsified medical products that pose considerable risks to patient safety. The enhanced reporting system aligns with broader regional health policy efforts to strengthen pharmaceutical surveillance and protect public health across Nigeria’s 200+ million population.
