🚨 Breaking Newsvia UN News Health

The World Health Organization has commended Uganda’s handling of an Ebola outbreak that has crossed borders from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. WHO leadership emphasized that Uganda’s rapid response efforts have been critical in managing the disease spread, though officials warn the situation remains fluid and requires sustained vigilance.

The outbreak, originating in the DRC, has extended into Uganda, raising concerns about potential further transmission across the region. Health authorities are monitoring case counts and tracking transmission patterns to prevent escalation. Regional health systems remain under pressure as they respond to confirmed cases and suspected exposures.

WHO and regional partners are calling for intensified cross-border cooperation, enhanced surveillance, and coordinated containment measures to halt transmission. Uganda’s health authorities continue outbreak response operations while neighboring countries strengthen border health screening and preparedness protocols. This is a developing story.
