Researchers conducted controlled animal studies examining glucosamine’s effects on brain function across different neurological states. In healthy brain tissue, glucosamine appeared neutral or potentially protective. However, in animal models of neurodegeneration, the supplement was associated with worsened memory impairment and faster cognitive decline.
