The International Organization for Migration has unveiled a comprehensive 2026 calendar strategically coordinating migration and health observances to create systematic advocacy and policy alignment worldwide. This initiative recognizes the interconnected challenges facing 281 million international migrants, who encounter significant barriers to healthcare access across destination countries.

The calendar integrates major international observances including World Health Day, International Migrants Day, World Refugee Day, and World Mental Health Day, positioning these events as catalysts for coordinated global response. The structure emphasizes the psychological dimensions of displacement, reflecting emerging research on mental health impacts among mobile populations. By aligning these observances with health system strengthening objectives outlined in the WHO Global Compact on Migration, the calendar supports comprehensive, evidence-based approaches to migration health policy and practice.
