Peak Power Output Surges 10% With Daily Vigorous Exercise Snacks

A newly published meta-analysis of 11 randomised controlled trials reports a striking 10% increase in peak power output among 472 adults who performed brief, vigorous exercise bursts throughout the day. The pooled analysis, appearing in the Journal of Nutrition and Health Aging (2026), also documented a 7% improvement in cardiorespiratory fitness and a 3 percentage point decrease in body fat—despite no meaningful change in overall body weight. These gains emerged from cumulative vigorous activity totalling just 11 minutes daily, distributed as 1–2 minute sessions scattered across the workday. The findings suggest that exercise intensity, rather than continuous duration or total time commitment, drives meaningful physiological adaptation.
