The human body manufactures an extraordinary 2 million new red blood cells every second in healthy adults, according to the Color Atlas of Pathophysiology. Each of these cells requires iron, folate, and vitamin B12 to function properly. This staggering production rate means that even modest nutritional deficiencies can rapidly cascade into anaemia and systemic dysfunction. A deficiency in any single nutrient disrupts erythropoiesis, collapsing the oxygen-carrying capacity of the entire circulatory system. The implications are profound: brain fog, fatigue, and neuropathy emerge not from a single nutrient gap, but from the breakdown of an interdependent biochemical system. Clinical recognition of this triad dependency is essential for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment, particularly in populations at risk for multiple micronutrient deficiencies.
