Pancreatic cancer continues to present one of oncology’s most formidable challenges, with a five-year survival rate of just 12% across all disease stages, according to National Cancer Institute data. This sobering statistic underscores the urgent need for innovative treatment approaches. Revolution Medicines’ daraxonrasib addresses this gap by targeting KRAS G12C mutations, present in approximately 2% of pancreatic adenocarcinomas. While this represents a small patient population, precision medicine strategies offer meaningful benefits for those with the specific genetic alteration. The drug is now available through an expanded access program, providing eligible patients with access before standard FDA approval. For patients with distant metastatic disease—which carries a three percent five-year survival rate—emerging therapies like daraxonrasib represent a critical lifeline.
