Sunvozertinib achieved a 75% response rate in previously untreated lung cancer patients with EGFR exon 20 mutations, compared to 25% with chemotherapy. New data from a major Phase 3 clinical trial reveals substantial survival advantages with sunvozertinib treatment. Patients receiving the targeted therapy experienced a median progression-free survival of 13.8 months compared to 5.4 months in the chemotherapy control group, representing a more than twofold improvement in time to disease progression. This extended survival benefit demonstrates the clinical significance of precision medicine approaches in oncology. The drug maintained a favorable safety profile, with only 8% of patients discontinuing treatment due to adverse events. These findings underscore the importance of molecular profiling in lung cancer diagnosis, enabling clinicians to identify and treat patients with specific mutations who are most likely to benefit from targeted interventions.
