Laboratory research has identified a novel mechanism by which creatine, traditionally associated with muscle performance, may enhance the body’s natural cancer-fighting capabilities. Scientists discovered that creatine energizes dendritic cells—specialized immune cells responsible for activating killer T cells that target tumor cells. This finding opens a potentially significant avenue for strengthening cancer immunotherapy approaches. The research demonstrates how a well-known compound might serve dual biological functions beyond athletic performance. However, researchers emphasize that these findings remain preliminary, derived from controlled laboratory settings rather than human subjects. Substantial additional research, including clinical trials in cancer patients, is necessary before any therapeutic applications can be considered. The discovery underscores the importance of exploring established compounds for unexpected medical applications.
