Using advanced neuroimaging and machine learning algorithms to calculate biological brain age, researchers found that the environmental exposome—the cumulative effect of pollution, poverty, and social deprivation—overwhelms genetic protection. Air pollution combined with socioeconomic disadvantage produced the most severe acceleration in brain aging.
