Georgia’s healthcare transformation requires a fundamental shift in how the nation prioritizes worker protection. As the country develops a more resilient health system capable of withstanding future crises, strategic investment in health worker safety has emerged as a critical foundation rather than a supplementary concern.

The COVID-19 pandemic exposed significant gaps in protection protocols across Georgian healthcare facilities, revealing vulnerabilities in personal protective equipment supplies, infection control measures, and mental health support systems. International health policy experts recognize that protecting healthcare workers directly strengthens overall system resilience and patient safety outcomes.

Georgian policymakers must now integrate comprehensive worker safety frameworks—addressing physical security, occupational health protections, and psychological wellbeing—into the core architecture of healthcare reform. This strategic approach aligns Georgia with global best practices while ensuring the healthcare workforce can sustainably deliver quality care.
