A comprehensive 2019 survey of Jakarta’s hospital system has documented alarming antibiotic resistance patterns across multiple healthcare facilities, providing critical baseline data for antimicrobial stewardship initiatives. The cross-sectional study analyzed bacterial isolates from hospitalized patients to establish susceptibility profiles and identify resistance trends.

This multisite surveillance effort represents one of the most systematic assessments of bacterial infection epidemiology in Jakarta’s healthcare network. By capturing data from diverse facility types, researchers obtained a robust snapshot of resistance patterns that directly impacts clinical decision-making and infection management protocols. The findings underscore the urgent need for coordinated antimicrobial stewardship programs across Jakarta’s hospital system to combat rising resistance rates and protect patient outcomes.
