A landmark study from the University of Notre Dame has identified unique molecular signatures in breast cancer tissue from Native American women, marking the first comprehensive genetic analysis of the disease in this population. Published in npj Precision Oncology, the research reveals that these distinct genetic patterns differ significantly from those observed in other populations, with potential implications for treatment effectiveness.

The findings address a longstanding gap in cancer research, where Native American populations have remained critically underrepresented in molecular studies.
