🚨 Breaking Newsvia UN News Health

The United Nations aviation agency has issued an urgent advisory to governments and international airlines following confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and neighbouring Uganda. The outbreak involves a deadly Ebola strain that continues to spread across the region, prompting heightened health security measures in air travel.

Health authorities have confirmed multiple cases in the DRC with cross-border transmission documented in Uganda. The emergence of cases in neighbouring countries signals potential for wider regional spread, raising concerns about disease transmission through international travel corridors.

The UN agency is directing flight operators and governments to strictly adhere to safety protocols established during the COVID-19 pandemic, including screening procedures, sanitation standards, and passenger health documentation requirements. International health organisations are coordinating surveillance and response efforts across affected borders. This is a developing story.
