🚨 Breaking Newsvia Signal Intelligence

The World Health Organization has declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) following confirmation of Ebola virus transmission across the border from the Democratic Republic of Congo into Uganda. The DRC outbreak has reportedly exceeded 900 cases, with cross-border transmission confirmed as of May 31, 2026.

The declaration reflects significant concern over rapid geographic spread and the potential for wider regional transmission. Uganda’s health authorities are mobilizing response efforts, though critical epidemiological details remain limited, including the exact number of confirmed cases in Uganda, affected districts, and current transmission status.

International health agencies are coordinating with DRC and Ugandan health ministries to deploy additional response capacity, enhance contact tracing, and establish cross-border surveillance measures. Regional preparedness protocols are being activated across neighboring countries. This is a developing story.
