The research underscores an important clinical distinction: magnesium supplementation works optimally as part of a comprehensive cardiovascular management plan rather than as a standalone treatment. The mineral achieves its effects through multiple physiological mechanisms, including promotion of nitric oxide production and enhancement of endothelial function, which collectively reduce vascular resistance.
These findings suggest that clinicians should consider magnesium status assessment in hypertensive patients, particularly those with concurrent metabolic conditions, while maintaining adherence to established antihypertensive therapies.
