Approximately 37.3 million Americans currently live with diabetes, according to recent CDC estimates, underscoring the substantial public health burden that federal health initiatives must address. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 28.7 million cases are diagnosed, while 8.5 million remain undiagnosed. Against this backdrop, an NIH advisor presented the “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) initiative at the American Diabetes Association’s annual scientific conference, arguing that the strategy aligns with chronic disease research priorities. The presentation aimed to demonstrate how MAHA’s goals could support ongoing efforts to improve diabetes prevention, management, and treatment outcomes across the nation.
