A breakthrough in medical device engineering has introduced an ingestible capsule approximately the size of a blueberry that continuously monitors core body temperature from within the digestive tract. This innovative technology addresses a critical gap in clinical practice, where traditional surface-based measurement methods often fail to detect accurate internal temperature changes.

Unlike conventional oral and forehead thermometers, which can be affected by external factors such as food consumption or environmental conditions, the ingestible capsule transmits real-time temperature data directly from the body’s core. Researchers indicate this approach provides more reliable fever detection during early stages of illness—when precise monitoring is most clinically significant.
