Inhaled CBD Demonstrates Anti-Inflammatory Potential in Alzheimer’s Preclinical Study

Emerging research suggests cannabidiol (CBD) may offer a novel therapeutic avenue for Alzheimer’s disease by targeting neuroinflammation, a key driver of cognitive decline. In a preclinical study using transgenic mouse models, researchers administered inhaled CBD and observed significant reductions in neuroinflammatory markers compared to control groups.

The findings focus on microglial cells, immune cells in the brain that become hyperactive in Alzheimer’s disease and contribute to neuronal damage. CBD appeared to modulate this inflammatory response through multiple biological pathways, potentially slowing disease progression.

While these preclinical results are encouraging, researchers emphasize that human clinical trials are essential before translating these findings into clinical applications. The study adds to growing evidence that neuroinflammation represents a promising therapeutic target for neurodegenerative diseases.
