New Global Commission Bridges Brain Health and Economic Policy

A landmark global commission has been established to create the first comprehensive framework connecting brain health directly to economic resilience. The Brain Health for Economic Resilience Commission represents a significant shift in how policymakers approach economic planning, integrating cognitive capacity as a fundamental economic driver alongside traditional financial indicators.

This transdisciplinary initiative brings together leading experts from neuroscience, economics, public health, and policy sectors to develop measurable brain health metrics that can inform national and international economic strategies. The commission’s work addresses a critical knowledge gap: while neurological and mental health conditions cost the global economy over $4 trillion annually, cognitive health has remained largely absent from economic resilience frameworks.
