Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has joined the World Health Organization’s World Food Safety Day 2026 campaign, marking a pivotal moment in the nation’s commitment to public health protection. Working alongside the Federal Ministry of Health & Social Welfare and the National Food Safety Management Committee, Nigeria is implementing a comprehensive, multi-agency approach to food safety governance.

Rather than simply documenting the scale of the problem, Nigeria and global partners are now focused on deploying practical, evidence-based interventions. This coordinated effort recognizes that food safety extends beyond regulatory bodies—it requires engagement from government agencies, healthcare systems, and communities working in concert to protect public health and support economic development.
