Second, the economic advantage of oral antimicrobial therapy is substantial: cost savings of 75% compared to surgical management can redirect limited healthcare resources toward prevention and surveillance. However, these savings are only realized if supply chain gaps are addressed and medications remain reliably available at the point of care. Third, community-based approaches prove remarkably effective—integrating community health workers into detection networks and establishing collaborative relationships with traditional healers significantly improves early case identification in settings where biomedical services are geographically distant or culturally unfamiliar.
