Second, the benefits are not isolated to a single brain region or network but distributed across multiple functional systems, suggesting broad neural remodeling and systemic protection against cognitive decline.
Third, and perhaps most practically important: standard resistance training protocols work. The trial employed straightforward 2–3 weekly sessions with progressive, moderate-to-heavy loads—no exotic or specialized regimens were required to achieve significant brain protective effects. This accessibility is critical for public health messaging and patient adherence.
These findings support integrating resistance training into evidence-based lifestyle interventions for cognitive health and neurological aging across patient populations.
