A new review published in the Georgian Medical Journal explores a critical but underappreciated question: are patients with high blood pressure at disproportionately higher risk?
The Research Question
Georgian researchers Tamar Gaprindashvili, Rusudan Agladze, and Zurab Pagava propose that hypertensive cardiac remodelling — the structural changes the heart undergoes due to long-term high blood pressure — creates a specific vulnerability phenotype that makes anthracycline-induced heart damage more likely and more severe.
